Homeland – Season 2 Episode 10 – Recap – Broken Hearts via Rickey.org
Here’s the recap for Season 2 Episode 10 of Homeland: “Broken Hearts” on SHOWTIME.
This week’s episode begins with Saul meeting at a diner with Dar Adul. Saul asks him about Peter Quinn and he explained that he is one of Adul’s men. Saul does not understand why Estes would put Peter, a soldier, in charge of a CIA operation. Adul makes him think maybe its because David doesn’t trust Saul.
Jessica confesses her love for Mike and tells him she loved sleeping with him last night. As they exchange a kiss, Brody walks in. They talk for a few minutes and Jessica asks her husband, “What are we doing?” Brody says, “I don’t know.” We realize here that the relationship is at a breaking point, and something needs to be done if there is ANY hope of saving it.
Finn Walden comes to visit Dana to let her know that he can’t stop thinking about the woman that he hit with his car. He wishes he could have things back to normal and be with Dana again. Dana says they cannot be together.
Carrie Mathison calls telling Brody that his deal is about final and he just needs to resign from government and tell Walden that he is withdrawing from the candidacy for VP. As Carrie hangs up and drives off, a white truck t-bones her and the screen goes black. When the picture comes back, we are celebrating at the CIA office over the victory of the take down of Abu Nazir’s men. David leaves and Saul starts questioning David about Peter. When Saul calls David out, David lashes out and tells him off. Peter interrupts to tell them that Carrie has been involved in an accident and she is missing.
Brody gets a phone call from Abu Nazir showing him that he has taken Carrie hostage and he needs Brody to do something for him. Brody refuses and when he does, he is told that Carrie will be killed if he does not cooperate. Brody says fine and is instructed to go to Walden’s office, find a small box and get him the serial number off the box. This will allow Nazir to disable Walden’s pacemaker, causing him to have a heart attack. After hesitation and coaxing, Brody seems forced to agree.
Abu Nazir checks in on Carrie, who is zip-tied to a pipe in a factory. He brings her water, but she refuses to have some. She plays strong, telling Nazir he is a terrorist and Brody will never give in to his demands. Nazir shares his love for Nicholas Brody and tells Carrie how much he LOATHES the United States for what they did to his people. He says, you can come to our homes, occupy our lands, but we will never lose our faith. We will take back what is ours and exterminate you. Both Carrie and Nazir seem to be passionate about their side, but as Carrie points out, Nazir IS A TERRORIST!
Brody frantically calls and make the arrangements to meet with Walden. Brody makes it to Walden’s house and sneaks around to find the serial number. Once he finds what he is looking for, he uses it to barter with Nazir for Carrie’s saftety. Nazir agrees to let her go and Brody follows through with his orders. As Walden and Brody begin their meeting, Walden’s pacemaker starts to short circuit (due to Nazir’s tech guy). As Walden experiences pains in his chest, Brody confesses his HATRED toward the vice president and allows him to die in his arms.
Once far away from captivity, Carrie finds a phone and calls the CIA for help. Saul tells her to stay put, but as we know Carrie, she runs back towards the factory where she was taken hostage. Typical Carrie is going after what she believes is right and wants to get Nazir for what he has done. As Saul and Quinn leave to find Carrie, David makes a call that forces Saul to stay back at the office.
The episode ends with Carrie walking into a pitch black door on a hunt for Abu Nazir. What will be on the other side? Will she be able to FINALLY feel some closure to the mistakes she made years ago? Only 2 episodes left…WE SHALL SEE…
