Project Runway – Season 11 Episode 11 – Recap – Finally On My Own via Rickey.org

Here’s the recap for Season 11 Episodelb icon1 Project Runway – Season 11 Episode 11 – Recap – Finally On My Own 11, “Finally On My Own”,  of Project Runway on Lifetime!

This week’s episode began with Hiedi and Tim informing the designers that for this week’s challenge they would be working ON THEIR OWN. Finally, we will be able to see who actually has some talent and who doesn’t! Oh wait….NOT! Heidi then tells the designers that since this season is a “team” season, the designers will be provided with a helper to assist them with creating their designs.

Tim then leads the designers to the Hearst Building, where they meet Nina Garcia to find out about the challenge. They will be creating an editorial look for a fashion star that will run in the May 2013 Issue of Marie Claire Magazine. The winning look will be photographed  and be worn by our guest judge this week, Jordana Brewster.

Nina provides the designers with a few rules:

1. No red carpet look

2. No gowns

3. No t-shirts and pants

4. Needs to be editorial

5. Needs to be bold in color, print, shape, etc.

They will have $250 to budget their creations and one day to create their looks. They should be thinking of the future and what will be amazing to come! Designers spend some time working on their HP’s to sketch their designs. Then they head to Mood to pick up some materials and fabric.

Once back at the workroom, the designers are OBVIOUSLY greeted by former contestants from this season. They pair off and here is the way it ends up:

1.Stanley and Tu

2. Michelle and Amanda

3. Daniel and Samantha

4. Layana and Kate

5. Patricia and Richard

The team’s of two get to work and already, people aren’t seeing eye-to-eye. The communication between the designers is not clear, so the whole process is a HOT MESS!

Patricia is rethinking her WHOLE design. She is confused and can’t figure out what to do. Layana and Kate seem to be on track with a cobalt blue, leather design that could be a nice finished product. We shall see!

Stanley is VERY bossy with Tu about how he is sewing. Michelle is questioning her design and if it is BOLD enough. The models enter for their first fittings. Daniel’s design seems like it came from the “Lady Gaga” tour collection. It looks FAR too futuristic with the cray cray shoulder pad situation that is happening. TOO MUCH TO HANDLE!

As the hours tick by, Patricia continues to sink further and further because Stanley is pretty useless and can’t be left to do anything. Speaking of which, Stanley seems to think Tu is ALSO useless, as he “bullies” Tu through the design process and talks down to him the whole way through. The models return for their final fittings, and the designs are beginning to come together.

Patricia begins to fall into place and gets her groove going on. As she finished up on the accessorizing of her design, the models head to the L’Oreal Makeup room to get “prettified” for the runway! Samantha pulls it out in the end for Patricia and helps her to finish her look. INSANITY! Thank God for Sam!

The models head to the runway for the show and HERE WE GOoooooo…

This week’s judging panel welcomes Nina Garcia, Zac Posen is FINALLY BACK and the guest judge for this week is actress, Jordana Brewster.

Here are some thoughts about the runway show:

Michelle’s look is really cool and is a unique look. Daniel took his a bit futuristic. It has the chance at winning, as it definitely screams FUTURE! Stanley’s look is different, but the color is rather BLAH for me. Patricia’s look is literally WRAPPED AROUND THE MODEL. It is not even HALF of what some of the other designs are. Layana’s dress is pretty cool for what she accomplished.

Here are the looks with each of their designers for this challenge:

The judges loved the flow and vibrant look his design has. The pockets are a unique twist and they appreciate the time he took on the garments. They also REALLY love the idea of him making three pieces for this look. KUDOS Stanley!

The bottom two designers left are Patricia and Michelle. To everyone’s surprise, Heidi says, “Patricia, you are SAFE. You can leave the runway.” As I scoop my jaw off the ground, I am trying to figure out HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? With that, Heidi explains to Michelle that she will be given a “DO OR DIE MOMENT” #SAYWHAT??!!??

The episode ends with the WORST THING EVER… “To Be Continued…”

UGHHHH! I hate you Lifetime!

This Week’s Final Thoughts:

I enjoyed this challenge because it gave the designers an opportunity to show their individuality as a designer. I was really thrown for a loop when the episode ended with Michelle being at the bottom and having a do over. The whole “To Be Continued…” really annoys me and I want next week to hurry and get here so we can find out Michelle’s fate. And OBVIOUSLY, they didn’t show her in ANY of next week’s previews. UGHHHHHH!

Next week’s challenge looks like it may be another good one! Having designers work in different European countries has the potential to be AMAZING! Until next time…
