Project Runway- Season 11- Finale Part 1 via Rickey.org
Here’s the recap for Season 11 Episode 13, “Finale Part 1, of Project Runway on Lifetime!
Tim makes his way to visit with each of the designers at home. First up, is Patricia. Her collection is very Native American inspired, by using horse hair as an accent on her pieces. Next up, is Michelle. She only has 4 look of the 12 completed, but by the looks of it, she is staying true to herself and working really hard to knock out some AMAZING pieces. She has a heavy weight of the yellowish green color she has come to love throughout the season, but it looks good and unifies her collection. Daniel is the third designer we visit with. Evidently, perms are back in (Woof) and his facial has LITERALLY grown a mind of its own. HAHA. He is taking hi inspiration from cosmos and nebulae, which I find to be very unique and interesting. I am intrigued by his concept and look forward to seeing what he creates. Last up is Stanley. His collection is very HIM. It’s women’s wear. It’s elegant. It’s a little more mature than I would like.
Now, we fast forward to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City! My first thought is…. THANK GOD DANIEL LOST HIS PERM! HAHA! When the designers return to the work rooms, they are joined by some helpers. Michelle gets Amanda, Stanley gets Richard, Daniel gets Samantha and Patricia gets a PREGGER Layana (Congrats on the baby bump, Girl!). For the runway show prior to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, the designers must choose three of their looks from the collection they created to show to the judges. This challenge will determine which designers are in for fashion week and which are going home.
Here are some thoughts on this runway show:
Stanley’s preview is unified in its color combinations (gold, black, dark green, etc). The last look, a two piece top and skirt is AMAZING!
Waterlily AKA Patricia’s preview is definitely her. It speaks about Native Americans and where she came from. Her show stopper is this blue dress with things that almost look like miniature mirrors hanging from it. The worst part of it is the crazy, whackadoo headdress she makes her model wear. This girl is seriously deranged and her model looks like a muppet! HAHA.
Daniel’s preview is very mature. It is still high fashion, and his showstopper is a long, black gown. It is simple and elegant with a bit of detail going down the back of the dress.
I am IN LOVE with Michelle’s “Lone Wolf” inspired collection. Her wolf sweater is AWESOME. her second look is beautiful, but her showstopper is A MASTERPIECE! It’s super striking. It’s black with lots of versatility and accessorizing. I am TOTALLY rooting for her to win this whole thing. Clearly, the judges saw her talent and abilities throughout the season or they wouldn’t have given her the “do or die” moment.
Here’s a closer look at each of the previews:
Michelle: The judges like the inspiration. It is a universe that she has created, filled with risk (perfect for a fashion show). She has definitely thoughts about merchandising, and has done a fabulous job of thinking outside the box.
Daniel: The pieces are beautifully tailored, however, there is NO COLOR! There is NO SHAPE! Heidi even goes a step further and quotes an absent Michael Kors, “I’m underwhelmed!” (That doesn’t sound promising).
Patricia: Heidi loves the jacket. She is also liking the Tina Turner Smurf look. The third look, is harder to understand. The collection seems to be all over the place. The details are being overshadowed by the looks being SOO MUCH!
Stanley: Where’s your WOW? The looks are very cohesive. They look rich, luxe, and textured. However, they aren’t very modern or sexy.
Here’s what the judges decided:
Moving on
Going Home
This Week’s Final Thoughts:
Unfortunately, I think the judges made the right choice this week. I wish we could have kept Daniel around one more week for the fashion show, but he underperformed. He stood behind his pieces and was pleased with his work. Next week, we will see how the others perform. I am REALLY pulling for Michelle to win the whole thing. Here’s to hoping! Until next week…
